Our Vision

Our Vision

America’s Freedom Center will be a facility that serves as a tribute to freedom and the people who sacrificed their lives for it, not by glorifying war, but by stressing the dedication and sacrifice of common citizens who answered the call of their nation.

Our Mission
America’s Freedom Center is preserving a place of honor in our society for all Americans who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of peace and freedom. To this end, we offer educational programs that focus on our role in world freedom, service to our country, recognition of sacrifice and remembrance of our past including the heroes who left us a legacy of freedom and democracy.

A Personal Experience
By experiencing the stories of people who created our history, visitors will gain an appreciation of the power of liberty as an inalienable right, a social force and a human value. Lifelike experiences will give visitors a more personal knowledge of our nation’s history and a greater respect for American veterans, whose sacrifices ensured our freedom.

Visitors to America’s Freedom Center will come to experience and understand:

  • American history, our freedom as a nation and people and the role of these individuals and events in shaping the world.
  • The stories, memories and achievements of Americans who responded to the challenge of defending freedom.
  • The struggle of women and minorities to achieve equality in the United States.
  • The challenges to our nation, its leadership, citizens and Armed Forces in preserving freedom in the past, present and future.
  • The role, organization and accomplishments of the United States Armed Forces.
Our Background
America’s Freedom Center is an outgrowth of Wisconsin Veterans War Memorial/Milwaukee, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit corporation. Over the past five years we had the responsibility to raise $3 million for the renovation of the War Memorial Center, which was successfully completed in 2002. These improvements have enhanced the image of the War Memorial Center. The renovation has generated increased annual revenue to maintain the facility, which provides rental to service organizations and other veteran agencies and features an active center for the arts and culture in Southeastern Wisconsin. Over 800,000 people attend some form of civic or social function at the facility annually.
